finch: (in trouble again)

I like the idea of having an unbroken, undistracted streak of 750 word days.

In practice, I'm not so good with the reality of not getting distracted, not running short, not forgetting on a busy evening.

I've given up on undistracted, because trying not go get distracted got me to a point where I didn't write at all if I was on AIM or at work or waiting for delivery or whatever. Because I didn't want to get distracted, so I was waiting for the Perfect Time, which of course Never Came.

I think I would be okay with not hitting the 750 word goal, though that hasn't been an issue since I picked it up again, so we'll see.

How about you guys? Which goals are really important, and which are nice but not necessary?

My main goal at this point is to get myself used to writing on a regular basis. My creative writing, and even my internet leisure chatting, tends to be sporadic and slow. So I'm treating 750 like a mental gym.

I can usually get 750 words out in roughly 20 minutes, though the motivation of not getting a 'distracted' keeps me focused enough that I can get it out in one shot, unlike my normal writing, where it can take me hours to finish a post, or a story scene, because I keep getting distracted.

So my goal is to get used to writing a lot in one unbroken chunk, which should hopefully - once the mental muscles get used to it - translate into me being able to write/post more.
