I discovered 750words.com 8 days ago via [personal profile] littlebutfierce at [community profile] inkingitout, and it is my new favorite thing. I'm also very curious about how others are using the site -- especially long term, since I am only an egg a penguin.

I've picked 750words up this month, after a long break. I'm enjoying maintaining the streak, but I don't feel any of the benefits from keeping up the habit or writing down words that the practice is recommended for.

New Badges

Has anybody got the new Pegasus badge yet?

And here I was excited that I got my double-flock...

I totally forgot to post here when I got my Phoenix.

So I'm coming up on 150 and I'm not actually sure why I keep going. Because it's a habit now, maybe? I only really wanted the Phoenix badge so I could say I had it. Well, now I have it.

I considered intentionally missing a day once I got it and starting over, but somehow it just hasn't happened.

Why do you guys keep writing? What motivates you? Is it just inertia?

Yayyy!

I'm having trouble thinking of things to write down. Even when I tell myself it's meant to be unfiltered and spontaneous, and even considering I'm tl;dr at the best of times. It's not as if I don't have material to whine write about, my mind just goes blank.

I wasn't having this problem when I started! And it's gotten so bad a few days ago I resorted to keyboard-mashing gibberish for 100 words just so I'd make it in by midnight.

Anyone else have this problem? Or maybe some ideas on how to fix it?

(Sorry for unfinished entry fail, I got a bit excited with the Enter key)

I've only been using 750words for about half of June, but I'm really loving it. And because I feel naked without an icon for every occasion.../o\

Like the subject line says: is anyone doing more of the Artist's Way program than the 750 Words/morning pages? I took the book out of the library & finally, after numerous attempts over the years, managed to finish it. I've always been skeptical (for some of the reasons I mentioned here in my reading journal)... but by the time I picked the book up again I'd been doing 750 Words for a while. And it was definitely stirring something in my brain! So I was willing to give the rest of what Cameron says another shot.

I got all excited & did the first week of the program... about a month ago. And nothing since.

Just wondering if anyone else has done it or finds it useful: maybe 750 Words is the best thing to take away from it!

Flamingo!

I got a flamingo badge today! Woo!

I'm sufficiently motivated that I'm thinking about signing up for the July Challenge. Anybody here do the monthly challenges?

So, [personal profile] finch and I were discussing: is it a hamster? And if not, what is it?

As of June 10, I have an "unsdistractible" badge. Is it a hamster? I'm rather proud of it, although I've probably lost it today, as I ended up checking chicken-while-cooking, and putting on Toy Story 2, and other such things, so I was kind of distractible today: and I'm now being called to come get my dinner...
finch: (in trouble again)

I like the idea of having an unbroken, undistracted streak of 750 word days.

In practice, I'm not so good with the reality of not getting distracted, not running short, not forgetting on a busy evening.

I've given up on undistracted, because trying not go get distracted got me to a point where I didn't write at all if I was on AIM or at work or waiting for delivery or whatever. Because I didn't want to get distracted, so I was waiting for the Perfect Time, which of course Never Came.

I think I would be okay with not hitting the 750 word goal, though that hasn't been an issue since I picked it up again, so we'll see.

How about you guys? Which goals are really important, and which are nice but not necessary?

Welcome!

I'll get a sticky up soon, but until then - welcome to a Dreamwidth Comm for 750 words! :-)

So - who's doing the June challenge? How are you going?

Anyone want to squee about badges? I've got to admit that I'm pretty happy about my lovely pink flamingo (although I suspect my streak (on the site at least) is going to break this weekend, between house-moving and subsequent lack of internet.)

Anyway, have fun, play nicely, and don't forget to write your morning pages!
